Uzès : Fenestrelle Tower [click to enlarge]If you enjoy visiting historic buildings, the towns of Nîmes, Avignon and Uzès will delight you. Uzès (15 minutes away) is the picturesque capital town of what was the oldest Duchy in France. The city of Marseilles (under 2 hours away) is also worth visiting for its boutiques, quayside fish restaurants and simply stunning location.
Many of the local villages are interesting to explore - and each has its own bar where you can sit outside and enjoy a glass of local Duchy wine. Closer to home, you can walk along quiet country lanes and footpaths which wind through the Garrigue and tranquil French countryside. Pont-du-Gard [click to enlarge]Cycling: cycle along pretty lanes and tracks nearby, or venture along all or part of the 30km cycle route between Uzès and Pont-du-Gard.

La Bastide d’Engras [click to enlarge]Hot air ballooning: hot air ballooning is one of the most popular activities in the Uzège and this area is the only place in the Gard where the sport takes place. Canoeing: canoeing and kayaking are possible on the River Gardon at Collias. Golf: there is a 9-hole golf course at Pont-des-Charettes.
